Running Path

A photo of part of the path i use taken on one of those rare occassions I run in the morning on Grand Blvd. It's downhill first, then uphill. I also rather run in the evening, when its darker. Trees here are relatively scarcer, so dusk to night time is the best time to do the cardio thing and avoid the UV rays. God knows I need to loose a lot of fat. Its easy to get big here, because the food is just great. And loaded with butter. So -- running is the cure.

The Parking Lot

Our rental's parking lot is surrounded by very nice trees like these two (with white and red flowers). These are directly in front of our unit, and can be seen from our units' windows. They have blossomed for the season, and add color against the blue sky. D and the other kids play under the red tree when they battle each other's pokemon (using the Nintendo DS of course.) There are nice places in Richmond too, and I'll work on getting more pics when I get there later.

Nature's a Biii-ottch.

Spring is back ... with a vengeance. Taken when la familia was out and about. The far left areas shows the mountains' ski resorts and last vestiges of winter. Resorts are closing to prepare for the summer months. These flowers are on the corner of Keith and Grand Blvd.

Shout Out to My Homies

This one's for you. I think you might have forgotten what I look like, so here you go. It was taken by M when we went out this morning for coffee. I read Ech's email and noted a hint of nostalgia mixed in the air. I wish the horsemen and my buddy dentist were here. Until then, its all good.

Two Lions

This is the two Lion's Mountain. We saw this view when we were trying to burn our morning chocolate rush at Thomas Haas. It was such a refreshing site, on this beautiful day. I think there should be an easier route to get to the mountains, other than the public transport or a private car. Like a bike route or something.

This store is one of Vancouver's best dessert shop, and is located on North Vancouver. It was such a delightful treat to see this store on Harbourside Drive, near the North Shore Automall. When you're in town, you should visit.

Happy Anniversary

We just celebrated one year in our new country. To celebrate this occassion, we went to Thomas Haas Chocolatier. The drink in the picture is extra dark chocolate, one of Canada's finest. It sure was a yummy treat! I think we're going back to bring D and my brother. Super yummy.

VAG Weed Day (April 20)

Funny. Last Monday was 4-20 - Weed day in Vancouver. These people went to the Vancouver Art Gallery and lit up the place. They were calling for the legalization of pot. Personally, I don't care. I just wanted to go home. Picture was taken from Flickr, by A. Wong Photography.

Mall time

M and D want to go to the mall today. We're taking the public transport to go to the Park Royal Mall. Its an both an open air and big boxed mall, but I like the open air area better. Photo courtesy of flickr (thank you "morethanreal"). I'll just upload a new one after we have arrived. Am I looking forward to it? Secretly, I think I do. But, really, it's just another mall.

Yesterday's Cherry Bomb...

Yesterday, the cherry blossom trees started to shed. Cars under the tree were the vitims. Parking under the shade has its perks, and its own set of problems. The office does not really provide 'executive' parking, everybody (including the VPs) parks on open air parking so getting a cool spot during the summer becomes an effort.

End of another day

Its about 5:30 and I was on my way home. This is what the route looks like before I get to the 2nd bridge to get to the North Shore. The road goes down, and then it goes up again. I just love the rich green trees that line major roads, and the mountains as backdrop. Makes going home really easy.

End of the day.

I am tired --- just arrived from work and ready to surf the net. This is how my work space at home looks like. I positioned my computers near the window which overlooks Mt. Seymour (I think.) I hope my friends are doing just fine back in Manila and Boston. The laptop is NOT a mac, but uses the mac wallpaper.

I'm calling it a day.

Hello Boston and Manila. This is Richmond.

This is the parking lot of my office. Notice the cute cherry blossom trees lined up in a neat little row. The trees are a kind nod to Richmond's history with Japanese immigrants who settled there. They were among the first immigrants, and were poor fishermen then (not anymore.) I love cherry blossom trees.

The Balcony

The View from my balcony. This is my new home's big draw. I love the mountains and the fresh air. Makes me look forward to coming home and staying home on weekends.

Hello, this is Vancouver

Hello world, started to blog again in honor of my friends in Boston and Manila.
I hope that with a little bit of luck, the "four horsemen" will be back together again soon. In the meantime, I am starting again this blog and posting my morning pictures. For Dave the fave, Echi and M, this is my way of sharing my new city with them.
